Gluten Free Options for All Your Guests

Posted on Sep 6, 2016   (0 comments)

As most of you already know gluten-free has been the talk of the food industry for quite a few years now. It became widely popular for being known as the “cool, new diet” trend for a while since people believed it was the fad of the time for losing weight when in reality it is so much more than that. Ask anyone with a true gluten allergy and they will tell you it is anything but the latest and greatest in trends. Having a sensitivity to it, or the true allergy, known as celiac disease, is a real problem that isn’t always taken seriously, but for those who have it, they really can’t eat anything that contains wheat and gluten, making for a diet and lifestyle change necessary.

What is gluten?

Gluten is mixture of proteins found in wheat and grains, such as barley, rye, oats and all of their components. The obvious foods containing gluten are breads, pastas and cereals, however over the last few decades, gluten has become a filler and thickening agent in many other types of foods. This includes some surprising foods, such as rice, ketchup, mustard, many sauces, ice cream, drinks, salad dressings and even meats. So if you think about it, someone who can’t eat gluten, really has to think about everything they put on their plates and in their tummies.

Gluten and parties

Having a food allergy or sensitivity can definitely be stressful. Attending parties or events can sometimes be a process and even overwhelming for those individuals. They constantly have to plan ahead in case they can’t eat anything or they have to double check everything wherever they are to ensure that gluten or cross contamination isn’t present. For the host os the party, this can be stressful as well, if they are aware that one of their guests is limited. No one wants to exclude anyone on purpose and no one wants to feel left out either, making it feel like it’s added pressure.

Here are AppetizersUSA we understand that our customers want to cater to everyone, so we created a special Gluten Free section that offers some delicious options your celiac guests will go nuts over. Our innovative line of gluten free products has been certified and tested gluten free and contain premium ingredients to create a strong flavor profile sure to be the hit of any event.

Some of our Chef’s favorites, include our Chili Lime Salmon Kabobs, Potato Au Gratin and Stuffed New Potato with Bacon.

These, along with our other gluten free options are perfect, not only for those with the allergy, but for all guests present, and they make for great options for all your up-and-coming holiday events! Also be sure to make some label cards to distinguish which dishes are gluten free, so your allergy-friendly guests can be reassured when filling up their plates with all the yummy foods they can eat.
